High school students who want to expand their knowledge of another language and culture are invited to apply to Rotary International’s Youth Exchange Program, sponsored by our two local Rotary Clubs: Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise. This program is an opportunity for all students that will be between 15 and 18 years old in August 2018 that are currently attending high school in Brantford or Paris. Students may choose a long-term exchange (one year), departing in the summer of 2018 or a short-term exchange (six to eight weeks) also in the summer of 2018. An information night for parents and students will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brantford Police Station at 344 Elgin Street in Brantford. There will be a Rotary Youth Exchange information meeting here at the school on Thursday, October 19th in the Divine Mercy Room at 12:00 pm.
Attention SJC students, have you ever wondered how your brain works? What causes us to feel anxious, angry or scared? Want to know how to try to “rewire for happiness?” Please join Mrs. Connolly for our first lunch and learn on October 17th as she helps explain the neuroscience behind our brain and how it connects to our learning and emotions. This will take place during both lunches in the Divine Mercy Room. Bring your lunch and let’s explore our brains. Please sign up with Mrs. O’Sullivan in the library.
To all student who require Community Service Hours, you can complete your hours at SJC. The Brantford Boys CYO program is looking for reliable students who can assist on Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:15 pm at SJC. You do not need any basketball experience to participate in this program. All students will be provided tasks that fit their respective skill sets and comfort level. Additional opportunities may be available at BCI on Saturdays and Sacred Heart in Paris on Mondays. For anyone interested in this program kindly contact Student Services.
Attention SJC Swimmers, if you are interested in being a part of this year’s swim team, please sign up on the sheet posted on the door of room 243. Practices will begin soon and we will be having a meeting next week to discuss schedules and meets. If you have any questions, please speak with Mrs. Bowen in room 243 or Mr. Perras in the tech-wing. We look forward to a fantastic season.
