Attention all students taking either French or Italian next year.  Are you interested in traveling to France and Italy over the March break next year with The Modern Languages Department?  Please drop by room 210 today to speak to Madame and to receive more information.

Any students interested in part time work or a coop placement at Home Hardware, please see             Mr. Petitti as soon as possible.  If I am not in the office, please leave your name and contact info on the sign-up sheet.  This is a paid position for either coop or after school or during the summer.

Any students who will be either 16 or 17 years of age this summer, are invited to participate in a French immersion opportunity, work experience and exchange in Quebec for 6 weeks.  The YMCA is offering this French language summer work experience to student interested in improving their language skills.  See Madame in room 210 for more information.

Secondary school girls are invited to a free career event on Saturday, April 6th, 2019.  Don’t miss out on the Dream It, Be it Event from 9 to 3:30 on April 6th at 33 Diana Avenue, Brantford.  Lunch and transportation pick up is available from St. John’s College as well as other school locations.  There is a grand door prize of a refurbished IMAC desktop computer, swag bags, door prizes, speakers’ panel and keynote speaker, Alysha Brilla.  Seating is limited.  Pre-register at soroptimistgranderie.ca.  Be empowered to pursue your career goals and reach your full potential.

Attention students who have applied to or have accepted admission to King’s University.  King’s University offers Entrance Scholarships and Awards.  Check out the Future Student page of the King’s University website.  If you require the website link, please come to Student Services and see Mrs. Spiers.  The deadline for applying is April 1, 2019, however, there is a strong possibility that the deadline will be extended to the end of April….don’t delay….apply now.

Attention girls interested in applying for a $250.00 award from Soroptimist International of Grand Erie Secondary School Girl Volunteer Award.  The application deadline is April 30, 2019.  Visit Student Services or the website at www.soroptimistgranderie.ca and follow the link for the secondary school bursary.

Students planning on attending a post-secondary school in the fall with intentions of pursuing scientific or technological careers may wish to apply to be nominated for the James Hillier Foundation Scholarship.  This scholarship is for general academic fees up to $5,000.00 per year for a maximum of 4 years.  Nomination applications can be picked up in Student Services.  Nomination applications are due to Student Services by Friday, April 26th, 2019.

All are invited to experience our National Theatre School play, “Boogie” today-Monday, March 25th.  Curtain at 7:00 and admission is free.

Grade 12 students interested in applying for the Ted Beare Memorial Bursary can obtain an application in Student Services.  Applications are invited from students who have graduated or will graduate in 2019 from a Brant County Secondary School and who will begin first-year studies in September at a post-secondary institution in a sports related field such as, but not limited to, physical education, kinesiology, media studies leading to a career in sports journalism, or related programs.

Grade 12 students interested in applying for a $1,000.00 Kiwanis Club of Grand River Endowment Fund bursary can obtain an application in Student Services.  Applications are invited from students who wish to continue their education at a post-secondary institution in Canada with a preference given to students who pursue studies in health education or in a related field.  Applications are due no later than May 21, 2019.

Laurier Brantford YMCA is pleased to offer students at St. John’s College an opportunity to use their facilities at a discounted rate.  If interested, please pick up a registration form from Mrs. Padmore in the Main Office.   Students are required to bring in the completed registration form and student ID to receive this offer.

Any grade 12 student interested in writing the AP exams, please see your subject specific teacher for the process to sign up for the exams.  This is the final week to sign up for the exams that will take place in May.

St. John’s would like to congratulate the following four students who were recognized as Students of the Month for February.  Despite all those snow days, these students demonstrated valuable qualities which are celebrated here at SJC.  Congrats to Lucas P., Jordan R., Parker G. and Kira D.  Please see Mr. Picone in the main office today to claim your prize.

Do you have the mental and physical stamina to compete in the ultimate sport of Track and Field?  Don’t be that person who will look back in 3 years, 5 years, or 20 years from now and say to themselves, “I wish I tried that”.  Only the dedicated, driven, and brave can succeed in Track and Field.  So, come out and prove to yourself that you are Ready, Set and Gold.  Meet your experienced coaching staff that will help guide you and develop you for this great sport of you verses the world.  Sign ups are by the gym doors and practices begin tomorrow-Thursday right after school.  Meet in the weight room.

Attention students wishing to acquire some community volunteer hours, please see the Board outside of Student Services for information on how to volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Morton Avenue, Brantford.

Attention all students interested in attending a meeting of Le Club Francais.  There will be a meeting during both lunches tomorrow-Thursday March 21st in room 210.  Our guest speaker is a former SJC student who worked in France as an Au Pair, in Montreal as a French teacher and is now in Brantford teaching at a French immersion school  Please sign up on the door of room 210 so that arrangements can be made based on the number of students attending.

Grade 12 female students interested in applying for a $1,500.00 Secondary School Achievement Award from the Canadian Federation of University Women Brantford, please come to Student Services to obtain  more information.  This award will go to the successful applicant who is graduating with a minimum 83% in six 4U/4M level credits and who has applied to attend post-secondary school.  Applications for the Award are due to Student Services by May 8, 2019.
