Tickers are now being sold at the office. You can purchase your tickets from Mrs. Padmore for $5.00 for students and seniors and $10.00 for adults. If you wish you may also purchase a ticket at the door on show night. The doors open at 6:00 pm and show starts at 7:00 pm. Hope to see you there. 

Attention Graduating Construction students pursuing a career in the Trades after high school, get your Douglas Carr Application into Mr. Quinlan by Monday, May 16th, to qualify for a $1,000.00 Scholarship. Applications can be picked up from Mr. Q in room 170. 

The Brantford Fire department is pleased to announce that they will be running a special camp called “Camp Molly” for young women in grades 11 and 12 in September. This is an amazing opportunity for young ladies to participate in a variety of firefighting tasks and learn about different career opportunities within the Brantford Fire Department. This camp will take place at the Brantford Fire Department Central Service location at 60 Clarence Street in Brantford on September 15th to 18th, 2022. If you are interested in this career pathway, please see the poster in the Coop Office or on the bulletin board across from Student Services to grab the QR code for sign-up. Participation is limited to 24 girls and is open to students in the Brantford area. Application deadline is June 8th. 

Today and tomorrow are the final days to purchase your Mother’s Day flowers. The store hours for the Pop-up Flower Shop have been extended to serve you better. Flowers will be sold today in the back library during both the junior and senior lunches. Flowers are for $10.00 or less. See you at lunch today in the library flower shop. Cash only, please.

The next GSA meeting is today in Room 132 during junior lunch. The meeting is open to all LGBTQ+ students and their allies. New members are always welcome. 

The girl’s rugby team took on ACS on Monday, winning the game 17-5. Trys were scored by Sierra Thompson, Kyla Bol and Ciera Nutley. Strong defense was provided by the Marchese sister’s, Izzy and Sophia. The girls will be back at it on Wednesday, so stay tuned. 

Attention concert band members, a reminder that the remaining rehearsals, including tonight’s, will only be 1 hour long, ending at 4:15. Any students who wish to learn a duet or small group song for the concert can stay after the rehearsal until 4:45 to practice. 

Congratulations to Halaena Buenviaje, who will serve as Student Trustee on the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board for the 2022-2023 school year. As Student Trustee Halaena will represent the views, values and opinions of all the students within the District School Board.  Good luck next year! 

There is an ACE Committee Meeting this Thursday on Junior lunch in the Divine Mercy room.  All are welcome to attend.

Attention everyone, now that May is here, did you know that there’s only six days until Mother’s Day. Six Days! If you are wondering what to get your mom, grandma, or special aunt for this Sunday’s Mother’s Day, why not get her beautiful flowers that have been lovingly grown by the students here at SJC. The senior students from job skills will be having a Pop-up Flower Shop in the back library during junior lunch on Wednesday to Friday this week. The flowers are marigold, zinnia, and viola. They range in price from $1.00 to $10.00. Come to the Pop-up Flower Shop during junior lunch this Wednesday to Friday to buy your Mother’s Day gift. Proceeds from all sales will go to the Brant SPCA. Thanks. 

Attention all Grade 12’s. Prom tickets will go on sale starting tomorrow on School Cash Online. The process for buying tickets has several steps. Prom contracts will be delivered to your last period class today. Extra copies will be available in the main office. One or two tickets will be allowed to be purchase on School Cash Online. Each ticket is $65.00. The prom contract needs to be filled out in its entirety with appropriate signatures and proof of purchase. Once this step is completed, you may bring your contract and supporting documents to see Mr. MacKinlay outside of Student Services starting on Wednesday to pick up your physical ticket or tickets and organize your dinner table. Please see Mr. MacKinlay for further information.

Despite the rain, the SJC Ladies Varsity Soccer Team brought the thunder winning their game 10-0 Monday night against P. J. High School. 

All students who are participating on the Track and Field team, there is a mandatory meeting today for Juniors on Junior lunch in Room 165 and there is a mandatory meeting today for Seniors on Senior lunch in Room 161. Again, all students who are participating on the Track and Field team, there are mandatory meetings on both lunches today. If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Koolen, Ms. McIntosh, Mrs. Elliott or Ms. Heyens.

We are happy to share that Conestoga College is now accepting applications for our three new tuition-free Pre-Apprenticeship Training programs that will prepare student for in-demand careers and provide a head start for those wishing to start a career in trades: General Carpenter, Welder/Metal Fabricator and Introduction to Construction Trades (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Welding). Please see Student Services for details.

Then please stop by Student Services to pick up your application to apply for ‘The $500 Squire Muma Scholarship Award’. Applications for this scholarship are due by May 14, 2022.

The GSA is a social club that creates a safe, supportive, and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. Our first meeting will be today during junior lunch in Room 132.
