Attention all St. John’s College writers! Do you have a story to tell? If so, the Laurier-Stedman writing contest is back and waiting for your entry. You could win up to $3,000.00 in one of Canada’s richest writing contests for high school age writers. If interested, please come to an information meeting about the contest in Portable 6 today on Senior lunch. If you’re not able to attend, feel free to contact Mr. Heida directly.

There is a new social justice club at SJC. It is called ACE. A.C.E. stands for Advocacy, Community and Empowerment. There will be an A.C.E. meeting open to everyone this Wednesday, March 9th at junior lunch in the Divine Mercy room. All are welcome to participate.

A reminder for the St. John’s College Varsity hockey team to return their hockey jerseys by Friday, March 11th 9 am to Miss Tobia in room 110. Any missing jerseys will need to be replaced and the fee will show up on school cash online.

Any boy in grade 11 or 12 interested in playing Senior boys rugby are reminded that practices are being held in the gym this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.

Any boys in grade 9 or 10 interested in playing Junior boys rugby are reminded that practices are being held in the gym this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.

Students interested in writing the grade 12 math contest should come see Mr. Todd in room 202 today please. If you know you want to write the grade 12 math contest and can’t make it to 202 today, please send Mr. Todd an email.

Girls Varsity Soccer tryouts will be held on Monday, March 7th at 7 am and Wednesday March 9th at 3 pm in the gymnasium. Come prepared with water and athletic gear. You must also have your permission form signed and returned to Ms. Rosati’s room prior to, in order to participate. Thanks, Coaches Rosati, Cassano, and Miranda.

Attention grade 12 students looking for scholarship opportunities. Please visit the bulletin board outside of student services to view Western University’s National Indigenous Scholarship Program poster. Applications are due by March 14, 2022.

Attention Grade 12 female potential graduates. The Canadian Federation of University Women Brantford (CFUW) has a $1,000.00 scholarship for females who have achieved an average of 85% or higher based on 6 credits for entrance to post-secondary education programs. To qualify, you must have demonstrated involvement in and commitment to extracurricular activities or community volunteering and or employment. The final selection will be based on non-academic criteria as indicated on the application form. Please stop by Student Services to pick up a green application form. Applications are due in April.

Attention all Arts High Skills Major Students.  There is an important meeting at the start of Senior Lunch today in room 232. All Arts High Skills Major Students need to attend this important mandatory meeting to get information regarding the SHSM program. Students who attended yesterday’s meeting need not attend today.

Attention Boys varsity soccer and Boys and Girls badminton, tryouts are happening.  QR codes are up at the gym door entrances.  Scan the code to sign up and answer the questions regarding that sport. Be sure to grab a consent form for that particular sport and return it to Mr. Perras.  Soccer tryouts will begin after the March Bread and Badminton tryouts will begin next week.

This is a reminder that girls rugby conditioning will begin today and tomorrow afterschool. We will be meeting at 3:20 outside the gym doors near the vending machines. Make sure to bring your signed permission form if you have not already submitted it.

Attention Music students, concert band rehearsals have started up again on Wednesdays after school, from 3:15 – 4:45 in the cafeteria.  Please see Mrs. Marriott if you cannot attend.

Grad Photo Retake Appointment dates and times are now available through Edge Imaging’s online booking system and are scheduled for March 8th and 9th. Note that grad photo proofs can take up to 3 weeks from your original photo date to be emailed out to you. If upon receiving your proofs you are unhappy then you can log in and book a retake session. Students who missed their grad photo session can also book an appointment on one of our retake dates.  See Mrs. Ronson in Student Services if you have any further questions or concerns.

The St. John’s College Girls Varsity Hockey Team played their quarter final game against Assumption College on Wednesday, February 24th at the Gretzky Centre. Kyla Bol scored a goal in the second period but unfortunately, they lost to Assumption 3-1. It was a great season Eagles.

The Canadian Cancer Society is offering a virtual volunteer fair this evening, Wednesday, February 23rd at 7 pm. They will cover a variety of volunteer opportunities for students from event planning to advocacy. Go to cancer.ca/volunteerfair for more information.

Eco-club will be meeting today-Wednesday. Please note that there will be a room change from last semester. Junior lunch meeting will be in Room 166 and Senior lunch meeting will be in Room 161. New members are always welcome.
